Laser or the classic methods?

Laser targets hair in its growth phase. Over a course of sessions it helps with long-term hair reduction. How many sessions you’ll need we work out at your consultation, as it depends on your phototype, hair type and the area.
Sugaring and waxing remove hair from the root, and you see the result straight away. Skin stays smooth for a few weeks. Materials are single-use. If laser won’t work for your hair, we’ll say so.

How a session works

  1. 1

    Consultation

We look at the area, your hair and your skin, and choose the method. For laser, we check your phototype and draw up a rough plan.

  2. 2

    Skin prep

We cleanse the area. For laser, hair should be shaved; for sugaring and waxing, it needs to have grown out.

  3. 3

    Treatment

We work area by area and keep checking how you feel. Timing depends on the area and the method.

  4. 4

    Afterwards

We apply a soothing product and tell you what to avoid for the next few days. After laser, we book your next session too.

Before your treatment

  • For laser: no tanning, sunbeds or self-tan for at least 2 weeks beforehand.
  • For laser: shave the area 1–2 days before. No tweezing, waxing or sugaring for 4 weeks beforehand.
  • For sugaring and waxing: let hair grow to about 4–5 mm (roughly 2–3 weeks after shaving or your last session).
  • Avoid exfoliating acids and retinoids on the area in the days before, unless your specialist says otherwise.
  • Come with clean skin: no cream, oil or deodorant on the area.
  • Tell us if you take any medication or have had other treatments on the area recently.

After your treatment

  • After laser, stay out of direct sun and use SPF 50 on exposed areas for at least 2 weeks.
  • For 1–2 days, skip the sauna, pool, hot baths and hard workouts.
  • For 1–2 days, no scrubs and no products with alcohol or fragrance on the area.
  • Some mild redness may appear. It usually fades within a few hours.
  • Between laser sessions you can shave, but don’t pull hair out (no tweezing, waxing or sugaring).
  • After sugaring or waxing, exfoliate gently after 2–3 days to help prevent ingrown hairs.

Hair removal FAQ

How many laser sessions will I need?
As a guide, 6–8 sessions, a few weeks apart. The exact number depends on your phototype, hair type and the area, and we set it at your consultation. Results vary from person to person.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
It depends on the person and the area. It usually feels like a brief warmth or a light snap. If it’s uncomfortable, we adjust the settings.
Can I have laser in summer?
Autumn to spring is easiest, when the sun is gentler. In summer we only treat areas that stay out of the sun, and only on untanned skin. SPF afterwards is a must.
Which hair colours respond to laser?
Laser reacts to the pigment in the hair, so dark hair responds best. On blonde, red or grey hair the effect is weak or there isn’t one. If that’s you, we’ll tell you from the start.
Sugaring or waxing: which should I choose?
Both remove hair from the root. Sugar paste sticks less to the skin, so it’s often chosen for sensitive skin and delicate areas. Wax is quick on larger areas such as the legs.
How often should I have sugaring or waxing?
Usually every 3–5 weeks, once hair has grown to 4–5 mm. If you come regularly, hair may grow back finer and sparser.
How long do laser results last?
Laser helps with long-term hair reduction. We can’t promise that no hair will ever grow back. Now and then, maintenance sessions every few months may be needed. Results vary from person to person.
